Dec. 25--CONCORD, N.C. -- Work started recently on a new 253-unit apartment complex called Waterstone at Weddington in Concord.
Georgia-based Davis Development recently began site work for the new apartment complex, which will be the first residential development on the portion of Weddington Road between Pitts School Road and Bruton Smith Boulevard.
In the past, there was one house on the road, but it has been demolished. The rest of the development along that portion of Weddington has been commercial.
All Davis properties include: resort-style pools, theater rooms, billiard rooms, gas grills, landscaping, attached garages, gated access, greenspace, built-in computer niches, pantries, walk-in closets and nine-foot ceilings, according to the website.
Motorists traveling south on Weddington Road toward Bruton Smith Boulevard will see the project on the right. The apartment complex will have 11 buildings, a clubhouse and a pool. It is expected to open in the spring or summer, according to Concord city officials.
"They have a lot of site work to do right now," said Peter Franzese, the spokesman for the city of Concord.
Franzese said the city and county has seen an uptick in multifamily residential development in 2012. An expansion is currently underway at Bexley at Concord Mills. It's located off Concord Mills Boulevard near the Walmart.

Echo Boomers

The echo boomers — those born between the late 1970s and early 1990s — are expected to help drive a housing market recovery in the coming years, according to a new report by Harvard University’s Joint Center for Housing Studies. Already, this generation is outpacing the number of baby boomers who at the same age were home owners. Studies show that about 900,000 households are made up of echo-boomer home owners, which compares to 500,000 baby boomers who owned homes at the same point in their lives. About 31 percent of echo boomers have already made a recent home purchase, according to data from the National Association of Realtors®. That number is expected to grow, according to housing analysts. About 5 million echo boomers turn 21 every year. According to KCM, a market and real estate commentator, echo boomers will likely add 1 million new households per year over the next decade. Source: Business Insider

Rascal Flatts Concert, Charlotte NC

Great concert last night featuring Eden Edge, Eli Young Band, Little Big Town & Rascal Flatts! The rain started slowly during the Little Big Town performance & continued until it started pouring during Rascal Flatt's 3rd song. Everyone tried to stay with their umbrellas & rain suits.
My friend & I finally left after the lightning started. It was still great!!
